Job Description

FTM Dance is a Performing Arts respite service for children and adults with additional needs, disabilities and medical conditions, aged 3 years old and above. FTM Dance provides performing arts and creative art related activities, sessions and workshopsfor individuals with a range of needs and abilities, including those with Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy and behaviours that challenge.Day Services Team Leader Role Profile:Overview of the role:1. Supporting and leading the support assistant to actively complete their roles to a high standard and being their direct port of call, in liaison with the teachers.2. On a day to day basis, the team leader supports and liaises with the teachers and management team to manage the service activities and team of staff to ensure a high quality provision is being provided.3. Being one of the main ports of call for any medical related tasks or support requirements, such as medication, personal care, emergency medication and is delivered within regulations by trained and experienced staff.4. Ensuring all personal care, health care or other care or support needs are completed when required and/or are metPartnership working with professionals with education, health and social care, and parents and carers5. Organising the rota for the weekly respite sessions and activities, ensuring adequate staffing. Providing cover where required, such as support worker or teacher duties where appropriate6. Support workers within FTM Dance facilitate and support individuals to access our sessions, activities and workshops (e.g. dance, drama, music, arts) and other community related events/activities.7. Supporting individuals in accessing FTM Dance provisions such as sessions, activities and workshops and supporting their independence, choices, communication, positive relationships and participation, through encouragement, creative thinking and support.8. Transporting and/or supporting transport, or travel training where required to meet the needs of the individuals to further support access to the provision.9. Supporting individuals in their personal care tasks and routines, such as toileting, dressing, showering, commode emptying, fluid and nutrition etc. Supporting individuals in health related tasks, such as gastrostomy, emergency medication and respiratorycare etc.10. Supporting individuals in their times of needs and crisis points, where verbal de-escalation and positive handling intervention is necessary and proportionate to the risks.11. Ensuring high levels of hand hygiene, infection control etc. is maintained for staff and individuals.12. Liaise closely with service manager to ensure our clients needs are being met and understood fully by all teams. Liaise with our service manager to enable contribution to team member supervisions. Liaise with trainer to ensure that all training is relevant,monitored and maintained.13. Maintain regular contact with our teachers and support assistants to make sure they understand ongoing care needs of our students.14. Safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and vulnerable adults.15. Ensure all student health protocols are kept up to date and that MAR sheets and medication audits are current.16. Be responsible for administrating medication following protocols and MAR sheets.17. Taking an active role in developing and ensuring the appropriate documentation, such as care plans and risk assessments are complete, including auditing duties18. Design and manage a system to ensure that all PPE equipment is ordered and well stocked. Ensuring appropriate levels of PPE are available and accessible and ensuring these are worn by staff when appropriate.19. Supporting the teachers and management team with recording and reporting duties20. Leading and delivering meetings, inductions, training and supporting supervisions, alongside the teachers and management teamRequired Experience: Experience is essential for this role and a minimum of 1-3 years working as a support worker or equivalent is essential. It is preferred that the team leader has a vast range of experience working with children and/or adults with additional needs, disabilitiesand medical conditions. It is preferred for applicants to have experience working with individuals with health care needs such as, gastrostomy feeding (PEG Care) or emergency medication (epilepsy medication, asthma medication, anaphylaxis medication) and/orexperience working with individuals with behaviours that challenge.Required Qualifications:It is preferred that applicants are working towards or have achieved a relevant Health and Social Care (e.g. Health and Social Care Level 2 or 3 .). This can also be working towards or have achieved a degree in Health and Social Care. It is essential thatthe applicant would be willing to work towards a relevant Health and Social Care qualification, if they do not already have a Level 3 or above within this field.Team leaders are provided with mandatory training such as Health and Safety etc, alongside individual needs specific training where required e.g. epilepsy awareness and moving and handling to complete the tasks required for the individual.
