Job Description

Service OperatorLocation: Wigan, Lancashire, WN5 0LQ.Salary: Up to £21,016 a year.Contract: Full time, permanent. The site operates a 24/7 shift system spread over four-week pattern. A willingness to work a shift pattern covering days, nights and weekends is essential.With a presence in 9 countries and over 10,000 employees, Saica Group manufacture sustainable recycled paper, corrugated cardboard and flexible packaging as well as providing solutions for waste management and the recovery of waste. Our Flex division produces a range of flexible plastic films, with our site in Wigan manufacturing products for major food retailers and suppliers.About the role Due to Sales growth, we have an opportunity for an individual to join our team, This role assists the Print Operations by ensuring that the factory is kept to a high standard at all times and ensuring that equipment, raw materials and finished goods are managed in order to fulfill customer requirements. Reporting to the Shift Manager, your key duties will include:

  • Operate in line with site health and safety, environmental and quality standards including BRC, ISO & A2 environmental.
  • Operating from hall 3, scan and unwrap pallets, issuing fillm to the presses in line with the order requirements and the print plan.
  • Take responsibility for removing all RTS reels from the print presses, weigh and record the weight, strap and place in the RTS holding location.
  • Empty all bailers on factory floor, ensuring the strap is weighed and that all bailed wasted is removed to the bailed waste holding location outside.
  • Empty cardboard skip on shop floor and remove unused 6" cores from shop floor, ensuring waste is removed to the cardboard waste skip outside.
  • Remove, weigh and record all used set up reels from print and conversion and dispose in film waste skips outside.
  • Cut cores for conversion machine, liaising with leading hand and operators on sizes and amounts.
  • Make sure hall 3 and conversion walkways are brushed and tidy.
  • Wrap, strap and book in goods in the absence of warehouse colleagues.
  • Operate a fork lift truck to unload and load deliveries.
  • Manage pallet stocks ensuring used pallets are removed from the shop floor, maintain stock levels of pallets used for finished goods and re-stock interleaves for finished goods pallets.
  • Assist with the cleaning of print equipment as and when required.
  • Ensure that the car parking area is clean and clear of debris at all times.
    • Quality focused, with a high level of attention to detail, you will be able to demonstrate previous experience within a busy manufacturing or warehouse environment. You will have Fork Lift Truck licence including experience of Bendi & PPT Trucks. Able to work as part of a team within a shift system, you will also be comfortable supporting colleagues as and when required to ensure production targets are met.Interested Apply now, including a copy of your current CV Required skills
