Job Description

Role: Therapeutic PractitionersSalary: £9.50 to £10.00 per hour dependent on experienceHours: 35 hour week - shiftsLocation: CrontonAbout the Provider and Role:This childrens home with education is very excited that it is changing its role to be more formally a therapeutic home using the SPARCS methodology, which has been piloted there for a year. The existing members of staff will become Therapeutic Practitioners but the care provider need to recruit at least one additional Therapeutic Practitioner to join the team. The role of Therapeutic Practitioner builds on the support worker job description but adds some therapeutic elements.SPARCS is short for Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress. SPARCS is a group intervention, delivered during school hours, that is specifically designed to address the needs of chronically traumatised adolescents who may still be living with ongoing stress and are experiencing problems in several areas of functioning. Overall goals of the 16-week program are to help young people cope more effectively in the moment, enhance self-efficacy, connect with others and establish supportive relationships, cultivate awareness, and create meaning. They aim to support the programme by having a staff team operating using SPARCS techniques in the day to day life of the home.Post holders will be required to work a minimum of 35 hours per week including some evenings and weekends on a rota basis.Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience of direct work with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties is essential
  • Preferable an NVQ Level 2 or 3 Caring for Children and Young People or recognised professional qualification in therapeutic work with young people.
