Halton Housing is looking to recruit a Neighbourhood Safety Officer to be based in Widnes. This is a full time, permanent role offering a salary of £27,374 - £32,204 per annum.With 7,000homesand 330 employees, Halton Housing is a business that prides itself on doing things differently. Forward-thinking and innovative, our customers sit at the heart of everything we do.The main role of the Neighbourhood Safety Officer is to utilise and work within legislation, a range of strategies, policies and procedures to successfully tackle antisocial behaviour. You will need to investigate and manage serious anti-social behaviour, harassment and domestic abuse cases liaising with other staff, the Police and any relevant agencies in order to gather information which will assist in agreeing and implementing a course of action which will result in the ending the behaviour that is causing distress to others. You will also support the development and implementation of a preventative and diversionary approach which minimises the number and severity of ASB cases.Principal Accountabilities of the Neighbourhood Safety Officer:- Take responsibility for the management and resolution of ASB cases ensuring all Halton Housing customers and local residents are interviewed, investigations undertaken, liaising with legal and other professional staff and developing action plans- Support victims and perpetrators and take enforcement or preventative action working with other agencies and partners as appropriate- Following investigation decide the correct cause of action including mediation, acceptable behaviour contracts, legal action, including the use of injunctions, demotion and possession orders- Assist in the preparation of cases for legal action, appearing and representing Halton Housing in Court as appropriate- Co-ordinate Halton Housing involvement in multi-agency forums to agree a joint approach to tackling anti-social behaviour. Using these forums to liaise with other relevant agencies- Work closely with staff in other Teams by providing advice and support in relation to ASB by contributing to the development of Neighbourhood Plans- Provide support to witnesses as appropriate and in line with the Anti-social Behaviour policy and ProceduresKnowledge and Skills required from the Neighbourhood Safety Officer:Essential - Experience in delivering an ASB service including knowledge and understanding of ASB action from initial complaint, interventions and through to legal action and eviction- Knowledge of key issues, legislation, and good practise in relation to ASB and Tenancy Management- Up to date knowledge of court protocol for arrears and understanding of powers available to assist in resolution management of ASB and use of injunctions- Ability to carry out thorough and systematic investigations, including interviews, surveillance and to provide accurate and thorough written, verbal, reports and witness statements- Giving people confidence and supporting the whole team- Networking skills and ability to work with others to resolve problems through negotiation, persuasion and influencing- Use a range of IT packages including ASB case management system and Microsoft packages- To have full clean driving licence and access to own vehicleDesirable- Work within civil court procedures and legal processes, instructing solicitors and barristers- Ability to deal assertively with aggressive behaviour through the use of de-escalation techniques- Knowledge of target hardening initiatives- Experience of working in a multi-agency approach to resolve Hoarding casesIt’s exciting times at Halton… come and be a part of it!Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Neighbourhood Safety Officer, click ‘Apply’ now.Closing date: 8th March2021Interview Date: 16th March 2021
