Mechanical Fitter/Welder role for a Top Tier COMAH site - Monday to Friday days based in near Widnes.Fabrication and installation of pipework and fittings, installation of screwed and bolted joints, general fabrication work, valve overhauls/repairs, bursting disc and holders and pressure safety device installation.Client DetailsBased near Widnes with other sites all around, the Top Tier COMAH site are a global leader in providing speciality chemicals into a number of different industries such as agriculture, nutrition, personal care, plastics and coatings along with many others.DescriptionMechanical Fitter/Welder - Manufacturing and Production*Execute the mechanical maintenance tasks as required, including both planned and emergent work.*Fabrication and installation of pipework and fittings, installation of screwed and bolted joints, general fabrication work, valve overhauls/repairs, bursting disc and holders and pressure safety device installation.*Competent welding (to coded level) of carbon steel and stainless steel pipework from 1" to 18" diameter, and from Sch10 to Sch80 wall thickness.*Requires the ability to carry out grinding, heating, oxy-acetylene cutting.*To work in toxic, acidic or low oxygen atmospheres wearing protective suits and/or breathing apparatus.*To work in confined spaces and to support others doing so, applying necessary safe working practices in doing so.*To work at heights and to apply necessary safe work practices when doing so.*Assist mechanical fitters with rotating equipment installation.*Identify any parts required, collating the relevant details and providing information as required to appropriate supervision.*Contribute to Root Cause Analysis of failures both formally and more generally through discussion with others and the Maintenance Supervisor in order to improve the reliability of equipment.*Ensure the mechanical section of the workshop Tier Board is up to date, clearly identifying both planned and breakdown work, indicating the current status and who is working on the task.*Recommend and monitor workshop spares holding, ensuring any parts used are replenished.*Record all work in the CMMS currently MP2.*Maintain 5S and Housekeeping standards within Workshop.Profile*NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.*Coded welder for Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel*Formal Rigging/lifting qualification (Desirable)*IPAF license for MEWP operation (Desirable)*Served a recognised apprenticeship scheme or equivalent training.*Experience and knowledge of fabrication and installation of carbon steel and stainless steel pipework from 1" to 18" diameter, and from Sch10 to Sch80 wall thickness.*Experience and knowledge of static equipment (flanges, pipework, valves, PVVs, RVs, flame arresters, etc.)*Experience in mechanical maintenance in a process industry is essential*Basic knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, HASAWA, COSHH and DSEAR*General good knowledge of maintenance processes within a Top Tier COMAH facilityJob OfferMechanical Fitter/Welder - Manufacturing and Production - Widnes*Monday to Friday role - potential shift to work one weekend a month - a shift premium will be added on these days and you will get the days back during the week.*OT paid at 1.5x*Secure site and role*Many more benefits
