Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Childrens Support and Safeguarding branch, for a Fostering Team Leader. We are looking for a highly effective individual, with strong leadership skills, who will focus on consistently delivering high-quality standards of practice within our fostering service.We recently launched our first Mockingbird Constellation and have exciting plans for all our foster families to become part of this innovative network of family support. We have ambitious recruitment plans for recruiting new foster carers and in 2020 we have recruited far more local carers than in previous years.We offer a culture of continuous learning, with excellent training opportunities and a trauma informed, strengths-based approach to practice using Signs of Safety (training and support provided if required).We have a modern and flexible working environment, enabling you to work flexibly from multiple locations.You will be part of a large friendly team where your contribution will be highly valued, and you will have the opportunity to shape and improve the services we offer for children, young people and families. This role is well supported by the Service Leader responsible for Corporate Parenting.We are looking for somebody with significant experience of:

  • Working within a fostering team, your experience will include fostering recruitment, fostering support, special guardianship orders and kinship care;
  • Working in statutory, regulated and safeguarding services;
  • Making decisions to safeguard and protect children;
  • Coaching, supervising colleagues.
  • You will lead the fostering team which is responsible for:
  • Recruiting local carers to meet the needs of our children;
  • Expanding our Mockingbird constellations;
  • Delivering an ambitious training programme to staff and carers alongside our training team;
  • Supporting our foster carers so they are able to care for our children in a trauma informed way, while feeling valued by us.

  • For the above role you must be a qualified Social Worker (with a social Work England Registration) with a passion for working with children and their families to help improve their outcomes and to keep them safe from harm using a strengths-based approach.You will have sound knowledge of relevant childcare legislation, including a clear understanding of Working Together to Safeguard Children.
