Job Description

An exciting opportunity for a Power Electronics Design Engineer within the West Yorkshire area. If you are experienced in AC-DC Power Supply Design and are on the lookout for new roles within the Power Electronics field please read on…The company:The company are highly successful at producing safety systems on their site situated in West Yorkshire. They are part of a FTSE listed multi-national corporation who are renowned for looking after their employees well and offer a competitive salary and discretionary bonus as well as a contributory pension (4%). There is also the potential for flexi-time as well as flexibility to work remotely for a few days a week when there are no hardware access practicalities.Power Electronics Design Engineer role:The position will involve the development of AC-DC SMPS (up to 250W) as well as the hands on hardware engineering design and development of new products as well as the company’s existing products in accordance with safety standards. In some instances it will involve leadership of certain projects and you will be required to provide guidance to more junior Engineers. You will also be required to produce design, production and test documentation.Power Electronics Design Engineer requirements:

  • Substantial AC-DC / offline switched mode power supply design and development industry experience
  • Strong understanding and experience with PSU topologies including ‘Power Factor Correction’
  • Understanding of PSU product safety standards
  • Schematic design and PCB layout experience (preferably with Altium package although this is not essential)
  • Excellent communicator and positive attitude, the company are looking for someone who will be a good fit within the team. You will be required to participate in peer review of products designed.
    • Nice-to-have skills:
  • Embedded software and microcontroller experience
  • Strong knowledge of European EMC safety standards and any knowledge of UL 864 UL standard would be beneficial
