Job Description

Do you have 2 years’ experience using FEA tools Our client is currently looking for an FEA Engineer to join their team in South Yorkshire.The company Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market.The role As FEA Engineer, you’ll provide capability and design support to the Body Engineering (BE) team to ensure the vehicle systems meet performance, weight, and cost targets. You will focus on analysing, and designing the next generation of the platform, as well as owning and leading the analysis of a range of crash, stiffness, and strength load cases throughout the programme. Responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with other Engineers to provide satisfactory solutions within the BE team
  • Improving the design of components using FEA tools
  • Producing detailed FEA reports and interpret their results
  • Constructing finite element analysis models
  • Identifying opportunities for improving efficiencies
  • Providing technical support for development issues
  • Working with a range of materials including steel, aluminium, GRP, welded structures, sheet steel, etc
  • The requirements You’ll have at least 2 years’ experience using FEA tools. Other requirements include:
  • CAE basics, tools, and knowledge of FEA
  • Practical knowledge on pre-processing preferably in HyperMesh/HyperWorks interface
  • Able to seamlessly integrate between test and simulation
  • Analytical, technical, and passionate about EV
  • Understanding of Fatigue and NVH
  • Excellent computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Able to work autonomously with very little assistance
  • Self-starter and highly motivated
  • Provide balance solutions for clear decision making
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible and willing to work from the manufacturing premises and remotely when required
