Job Description

Job Title: Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)Location: Leeds CouncilRate: £45 per hourAre you an experienced Approved Mental Health Professional seeking a rewarding role in a dynamic environment Leeds Council is recruiting for a dedicated professional to join their team. With a competitive rate of £45 per hour, this is an excellent opportunityto play a key role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health crises.Responsibilities:

  • Mental Health Assessments: Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for individuals in crisis, applying the legal framework under the Mental Health Act.
  • Care Coordination: Coordinate and implement care plans for individuals, ensuring they receive appropriate support and interventions.
  • Section 136 Detentions: Undertake assessments under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act, making decisions regarding detentions and referrals to appropriate services.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with health professionals, social workers, and other agencies to deliver coordinated and effective mental health support.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments, taking proactive measures to mitigate risks and safeguard the well-being of individuals.
  • Advocacy: Act as an advocate for individuals, ensuring their rights and choices are respected within the legal framework.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
Requirements:
  • Qualified AMHP: Hold a recognized qualification as an Approved Mental Health Professional and be registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Proven experience as an AMHP, demonstrating a sound understanding of the Mental Health Act and associated legislation.
  • Assessment Skills: Strong assessment skills, enabling the identification of mental health needs and appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with partner agencies.
  • Crisis Intervention: Proficient in crisis intervention techniques, ensuring the well-being and safety of individuals in mental health crises.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with individuals, families, and professionals.
