Job Description

Project Design EngineerWest MidlandsExcellent base salary + exceptional benefits packageThe CompanyWith a history in excess 50 years, my client has been offering liquid engineering solutions to a range of industries that include Marine, Power Generation, Mining and Oil & Gas.As experts in protection systems for critical plant and machinery (effectively diesel and gas engines), this established company offer a full engineering service to clients; ranging from independent specialist firms to large global conglomerates and they pride themselves on offering an excellent service to all.Due to an enviable and sustainable order book, they are now looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Project Design Engineer to be involved in their own set of projects.The RoleAs a Project Design Engineer you’ll be responsible for managing your own projects from kick off to the final whistle (start to finish). Which will involve:Utilising SolidWorks to:

  • Produce detailed 3D layouts of the project machines.
  • Generate accurate BOM’s, which are directly inputted into the in-house MRP system.
  • Produce GA drawings and fabrication drawings that confirm to exacting industry standards.
    • Read, interpret and synthesise P&ID drawings. These could be historical drawings or from other projects in progressManaging all meetings and technical discussions, right through to project delivery and post contract support.Work within the Engineering team to develop and sign off engineering designs and drawings, before they are passed to manufacturing to ensure flawless manufacture.The PersonIn order to be considered for this Project Design Engineer role you will need:To be an Intermediate to Advanced SolidWorks user and have utilised this in a similar role.
  • A sound understanding of parts, assemblies, weldments and sheet metal.
  • A full understanding part and assembly properties and design tables and the generation of accurate BOMs.
  • To be able to produce sheet metal fabrication drawings utilising flat patterns and frame drawings.
  • Relevant project design experience within a highly regulated industry, preferably oil/gas sector.
  • A sound understanding of fluid circuit design including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • To be able able to design filtration systems with pumps, valves, filters, gauges, pipework.
  • An understanding of pumps and their operating parameters
