Job Description

A rare opportunity for an experienced Regional Manager has arisen with a leading distribution company, in the West Midlands.As the Regional/Branch Manager you will be responsible for the effective management and coordination of all branch functions. The primary objective of this role is to achieve budgeted contribution by meeting or exceeding customer requirements, while implementingcost-effective and innovative operational management practices. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and profitability of the site. Your role is pivotal, not only the sales performance of the site, but leading and developinga strong and established team, along with providing Service Excellence throughout.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all staff, ensuring that focus is on the customer and meeting their customer needs
  • Instil a strong customer service ethic throughout. All queries are dealt with efficiently
  • Encourage an active interface between all departments
  • Develop and implement sales plan that is focussed upon gaining new customers and expanding business levels with existing customers
  • Organise branch sales resources to generate sufficient sales and margin to achieve budgeted contribution
  • Project manage tender process involving all relevant areas of the business to ensure tender is financially viable and commercial risk is minimised
  • Manage, support and coach staff. Leading by example
  • Ensure that all staff are kept informed of relevant information on sales, promotional and distribution initiatives to ensure market maximisation
  • Support all areas of sales by provision of specific area sales reports on branch activities and performance.
  • Recruit, induct, train, and retain staff of the required number and calibre
  • Ensure all training requirements are met and regularly
  • Continuously assess branch and sales staff against identified performance criteria
  • Maintain a high level of performance and conduct in branch in line with HR policies.
  • Maintain inventory in line with budget
  • Maintain fleet operations in line with legal requirements and company EHS & transport policy
  • Manage EHS performance to minimise the company KPI’s and in line with business EHS performance targets
  • Manage workplace and equipment to comply with legal requirements & company EHS policy
  • Develop annual branch budget for discussion with senior management
  • Develop sales and distribution plans to achieve budget
  • Ensure that branch operational costs are maintained within budget
  • Provide regular and ad hoc sales and operation reports as requested
Key Requirements:
  • Ability to understand customer needs and their goals
  • Manage customer’s contractual requirements, requests and concerns quickly and efficiently
  • Establish and set customer based KPI’s and gain the teams’ buy-in’ to the goals and supports the team in achieving these.
  • Ability to support, develop and coach individuals
  • Demonstrate the ability to win through collaboration
  • Sets high expectations for self and the team. Communicates the benefits to all and motivates
  • Takes responsibility for developing own ability and ensures the team benefit from initiatives
  • Recognises the need for a vision and establishes short-term goals for the branch./
  • Plans team projects, works effectively identifying goals, timelines and resources needed.
  • Business and Financial Understanding - ability to analyse business proposals for customer to ensure profitability and able to implement budgets.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Aptitude to develop/apply KPI’s to measure and improve operational and sales performance
  • Proven effective team management
  • Demonstrated successful sales experience
  • Successful operational management experience
  • Experience of high volume, low margin distribution industry
Salary £50-55K, company car or allowance, bonus scheme and benefits package.
