Job Description

At Fortnum & Mason we have a new opportunity available in our IT Department as a Senior Business Intelligence Developer. We are looking for someone to take the lead on the design, development and support of business intelligence and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge.It will be your responsibility to lead on the translation of business needs, into technical specifications, that enable the design, build and deployment of BI solutions. They, together with their fellow BI colleagues, are jointly responsible for developing and maintaining business intelligence solutions, crafting and executing queries upon requests for data, and presenting the business with information through reports and visualisation.The Senior Business Intelligence Developer will stay up to date on the latest analytical, data management and business intelligence technologies, offering insight and assistance in their future adoption and alignment within the business.Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience as a BI Developer or Data Scientist
  • Background in data warehouse architecture and design (e.g. dimensional modelling), and data mining
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) frameworks.
  • Proven experience in the Azure BI toolset including Azure Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Data Bricks, ADF framework and considerable experience in T-SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) technologies
  • Experience in Microsoft Common Data Service, Microsoft Dynamics365 Data Entities/Entity Store and the Microsoft Power platform is desirable but not essential
  • Familiarity with statistical techniques, predictive analytics (including any exposure to AI/Machine Learning) and core BI technologies and visualisation layers (specifically Microsoft Power BI), effective methods for their delivery (centralised/decentralised) and enabling tools (ideally using the Office365 and Dynamics365 suite)
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
  • Retail industry experience is preferred but not mandatory
