We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Manager to join a fast-paced Food Distribution team with a Foodservice and Catering business who distribute to thousands of customers across the UK. You will be based in the Wednesbury region of the West Midlands, initially on a 6-month contract basis, but with the possibility of the contract becoming permanent.The job holder will be required to manage the daily activity of their fleet policy and associated transport staff, managing legal compliance and quality standards and ensuring effective service is provided to the customer. With responsibility for managing a team, in this role you will be required to deliver the transport operating plan daily, which includes management of tachograph information, charts and cards as well as reducing accident risk, fuel usage and infringements via effective training and assessment. You will also be required to manage headcount, vehicle resource and purchasing, controlling costs, and ensuring best value for the business.Applicants will need to have experience in a transport management role in a fast-moving logistics and distribution environment where you will have developed excellent management and leadership skills. CPC knowledge and experience of working with vehicle maintenance schedules is essential as is knowledge of the standard hours scheme, tachograph regulations and working time regulations.
