Job Description

Trainee HGV Drivers required - No experience needed!Full training provided to take you up to Class C+E (Class 1) Starting Salary£ 22,000 + overtime + benefits, with staged increases as training completed.Do you want to work for a fast-paced national company, with excellent career progression prospects; where hard work is well rewarded Then a job with AFI is for you.AFI Currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee HGV Driver position to be based from our Birmingham depot (West Bromwich). The successful candidate will receive all the training required to gain your LGV Class 1 licence (C+E). All training willbe providedFree Of Chargeprovided that the employee remains with the company for 2 years.The successful candidate will also be trained to carry outPre Delivery Inspections on our machinery and to operate truck mounted platforms. You will be employed in these roles while undergoing HGV driver training and then until such time that asuitable driving vacancy becomes available. This will help provide invaluable experience on our fleet of equipment for when later transferring into a driving role as positions become available.The Ideal Candidate:

  • An outgoing and enthusiastic individual who is willing to learn new skills.
  • As this is a customer facing role, excellent communication skills and a friendly approach are a must.
  • A mechanical aptitude would be beneficial as you will be inspecting, delivering, collecting our fleet of plant machinery.

  • The successful candidate will be trained to HGV Class 1 free of charge. However, this offer is made subject to you remaining in the companys employment for 2 years following the completion of your course. Should you leave AFI during the 2 year period,you will be required to pay back the full cost of the course.
  • You will also receive an excellent training induction programme, including approved IPAF Operator and Load/Unload training, machine inspection training, drivers CPC training, IPAF and Truck Mount Operator training.
  • 23 days holidays per year rising to 25, plus statutory holidays.
