Job Description

Support WorkerShift LeaderWest Bromwich£21,200 pro rataFull Time, PermanentApply with your CV and Cover Letter to explain why youre the perfect applicant for this role.Our client is a champion of mental health and wellbeing, driving real change and providing crucial mental health support services to the community. They are looking for a Shift Leader who will take responsibility for the home when the Care Home Manager andTeam Leader is not on duty.To lead the full shift by supervising the staff on duty to ensure the needs of the service users are met at all times.Ensuring that the service provided are to a high standard in line with funding bodies and internal quality management standards.To work at all times in compliance with the Health & Social Care Act, the Care Homes Regulations 2001, CQCs Care Standards and any amendments to this legislative framework.To ensure that basic Health and Safety requirements are met on a day-to-day basisIn your first few weeks in this Shift Leader, you can expect to:

  • To carry out sleep in duties on a rota basis.
  • To provide guidance and leadership when working with Residential Support Workers (RSWs) and ancillary staff in order to ensure the successful implementation policies and procedures within the home.
  • To encourage and support residents to be fully involved in the life of the home and the wider community.
  • To assist residents in the performance of everyday tasks -. cooking, cleaning their room, laundry, shopping, trips out, appointments etc. - and to teach independent living skills as appropriate.
  • To take part in the development, implementation and review of care and support plans, and to guide and support other staff in this process.
  • To monitor the mental health and physical wellbeing of the residents and to respond to changes appropriately.
  • To administer residents medication in accordance with the policy and procedure of the home.
  • To ensure that the home is maintained to a clean and hygienic standard. To delegate cleaning duties as required to this end.
  • To accompany residents on annual holiday(s), on a rota basis.
To apply for this Wellbeing Support Worker role, you will need a good general education level (GCSE or equivalent). You will also require the following:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
  • Experience of staff supervision
  • Experience of having worked within a residential care setting
  • A good understanding of the appropriate legislation, eg Health & Social Care Act, the Care Homes Regulations 2001, CQCs Care Standards
  • A good understanding of Health and Safety issues relating to a residential care setting
  • Understanding of Mental illness
