Job Description

Refugee and Asylum Seekers Wellbeing Support WorkerThe Wellbeing ProgrammeWest Bromwich£22,998 pro rata12 Month ContractPart Time: 20 hours per weekApply with your CV and Cover Letter to explain why youre the perfect applicant for this role.Our client is a champion of mental health and wellbeing, driving real change and providing crucial mental health support services to the community. They are looking for a Support Worker to work with Refugee and Asylum Seekers on a 20 hour per week, 12 monthcontract role.The Wellbeing Programme seeks to improve the emotional health and well-being of identified beneficiaries, improve social well-being and sense of connectedness, and improve help-seeking behaviour for mental health and well-being. You will provide a high-qualityservice to clients with multi-faceted needs and will work as part of a team and in partnership with various agencies in Sandwell. You will be working 20 hours per week.In your first few weeks in this Wellbeing Support Worker role, you can expect to:

  • Role-model a trauma-informed approach
  • Demonstrate respect for cultural identity and individual experiences of migration
  • Promote equality in response to the mental health and well-being needs of asylum seekers and refugees, and challenge and address stigma and discrimination
  • Develop and facilitate bespoke psychoeducation workshops
  • Coordinate and deliver a range of evidence-based well-being group work
  • Engage in effective outreach and community engagement with refugees and asylum seekers to support engagement with The Wellbeing Programme
To apply for this Wellbeing Support Worker role, you will need a good general education level (GCSE or equivalent). You will also require the following:
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to professional development and well-being
  • Experience working with refugees and asylum seekers, especially those who have come from resettlement programmes
  • Experience developing and facilitating group work designed to improve mental health and resilience
  • Highly developed communication and networking skills, including interpersonal listening skills
  • Good IT Skills
