Job Description

Special Needs Teaching Assistant Wembley, BrentSecondary School Veritas Education are currently recruiting for a committed and adaptable Special Needs Teaching Assistant for an autism unit within a secondary school in Brent. The role is full time and will start in September on a long-term basis. The position will likely to become a permanent role for the right candidate.Essential requirements:

  • Experience supporting young people with special education needs including ASD, ADHD, PMLD.
  • Have positive behaviour management skills
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH and or SEBD.
  • Passionate about Childrens education and can positively promote inclusion
  • A caring and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of autism and communication difficulties
  • Be open to learn and committed to any training or CPD offered.
  • Must have legal right to work in the UK / Subject to an Enhanced DBS Check
The mainstream secondary school specialises in Brent to cater for children with autism. The aim within this autism unit is to teach them the skills to overcome barriers of learning, encourage in a nurturing manner, support their communicational skills.Students can often have an EHCP (education health and care plan), differentiated lessons to meet their needs and also have access to speech and language therapy and education psychologists.You are required to be passionate about supporting all students, regardless of ability/ needs.
