Job Description

Working closely with the Payroll Manager, this role offers the successful candidate the opportunityto assist and lead on the organisation’s end-to-end payroll processes.The main duties of the Senior Payroll Officer position include:

  • Working closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure that effective and accurate payroll processes are completed from start to finish.
  • Playing a critical role in answering any payroll and pension related queries from stakeholders.
  • Assisting in managing the payroll team and monitoring their development whilst highlighting areas of improvement.
  • Supporting the Payroll Manager in maintaining relationships with internal and external regulatory bodies and ensuring issues arisen from audits are dealt with accordingly.
This position is a brilliant opportunity for a confident payroll professional who has a strong track record of delivering payroll support and development in a complex organisation. Candidates are afforded a hybrid working arrangements, and are requiredto be in the office between one and three days a week.The ideal candidate will have:
  • Strong technical knowledge of payroll along with statutory knowledge of taxation and national insurance rules.
  • Relevant payroll experience in a larger or complex organisation.
  • Proven team management or supervisory experience in their payroll career.
  • Exposure to local government or the wider public sector is advantageous.
