Job Description

Drive positive change in a leading food retailer by supporting the Quality, Sustainability and Compliance Manager to deliver sustainability and ethical trading goals £Depending on Experience + Annual Bonus + Private Health + Hybrid Working + Free ParkingTHE COMPANYA leading supermarket is increasing their range of own-brand food and household goods and are looking to hire an Ethical Trade Assistant to join their Quality team and work closely with the Quality, Sustainability and Compliance Manager to ensure quality,food and product safety goals are met for product launches, supplier due diligence is maintained and responsible retailing is a key area focus covering Climate, Environment and Sourcing.The business is very keen on learning and development, they provide a clear progression structure and regular reviews throughout the year. They also have a big focus on the wellbeing of the team and provide financial health and mental health support programs.This role is a permanent full-time position, working on a hybrid basis with 2 days office 3 home and their offices are based in West London with easy access via nearby rail and tube links and free parking if commuting by car.THE ROLE

  • Working closely with the Head of Quality and Compliance you will assist them in implementing the sustainability plan which focuses on responsible sourcing and ethical trade, sustainability, and climate action goals
  • Focusing on net zero targets, climate roadmap, UK Plastics Pact, ethical trading, and responsible sourcing
  • Working with the manager to conduct new supplier approval audits and existing supplier visits
  • Ensuring key information is available and kept up to date, building knowledge on ethical trade and other issues - managing and updating the internal knowledge pages
  • Working with ethical trading associations, government bodies and other third parties
  • Responding to internal and external requests for information
  • Collate data and complete the required reporting for WRAP UK Plastics Pact membership and review Greenhouse gas emissions/carbon footprint data progress
  • Supporting Ethical Trade Partners on strategic projects and workstreams
  • Implementing a communication plan to customers, suppliers, colleagues, and government
  • Monitoring legislative / regulatory changes that could affect the business
ABOUT YOUTo be successful in this role you will need a relevant degree within Food Science or Food Technology, have some experience of working within FMCG in either food, chemicals, household products or medicines and have a keen interest in ethical trade, sustainability,and responsible sourcing.You will ideally be HACCP / TACCP / Auditor qualified and have experience of visiting suppliers. It would be beneficial if you had an understanding of the WRAP UK plastics pact targets and GHG emissions reporting requirements. If you have any experienceof working with the SEDEX platform or even experience implementing and managing an ethical trading plans - even better!(If you dont 100% meet these requirements, please dont be put off applying - you cant know everything, and what you dont know now will be great for your development within the role!)THE REWARDThis company has a great benefits package including a generous annual bonus, private medical scheme, and other benefits.
