Job Description

Reeson Care Homes Ltd is a private, family run company that provides social care services for people with learning disabilities and or mental health difficulties in a care home and in supported living schemes. We provide personal care to young adults (18 -65yrs old) and some of our service users present with severe and complex needs that challenge services, but we are passionate about care and our service users are at the heart of what we do.This is really an excellent opportunity for you to join a well-respected quality driven care provider, with young, dynamic, and dedicated team to promote our service users’ independence, social inclusion, safety, and personal development.Job SummaryThe postholder is expected to be the lead person in the provision of activities for service users and facilitating their access and in these activities to improve the quality of our service users lives.In summary your role will be to plan and organise the activities for our service users in accordance with their individual needs, interests, or choices. It is expected that you will provide a well thought out & varied programme of activities, both in groups and on an individual basis for their enjoyment, entertainment, development, and stimulation.Post Title: Activities and Social Inclusion lead.Location: Reeson Care Homes Ltd, Wembley HA9Hours: 37.5hrs per week, working 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, but with the occasional evenings, and weekend/bank holiday working.Rate: £10.50/hr-£11/hrBenefits:

  • Main duties and responsibilitiesThis will include:
    1. Organise individual or group activities/programme of events for service users at home, in the community or at the Day Centre, including outings, daytrips, holidays, individual parties, such as birthday, etc, and accompany service users to access community for their activities.
    2. Provide the necessary communication passport, symbols, PEC cards or any pictorial illustrations or materials for service users’ benefit.
    3. Identify and build links with local community groups, such as religious centres, Leisure facilities, etc and explore relevant community facilities or services, events or activities for service users’ access and maintain a directory of these.
    4. Source for procurement, required materials or services for service users’ individual or group activities eg art materials,
    5. Take a lead role in supporting service users to gain employment/vocation or to undertake college courses and maintain liaison with the institutions.
    6. Demonstrate the continuous involvement and inclusion of service users in meaningful activities and in the life of the community. Provide reports as required, of service users’ progress, participation and achievements in activities for management use, eg for review meetings
    7. Be managerially responsibility for a small Day Centre, which comprise of a small poultry, vegetable patch, gym and various other facilities, resources, or equipment, ensuring the smooth operation.
    8. Organize small-scale fund-raising events, such as Raffle Tickets, Coffee mornings, etc to promote and support the learning opportunities and activities of service user.
    9. Provide guidance, information, and advice to staff to ensure service users’ access to their ethnic and culturally specific activities/events, religion festivities, diets, clothing, and other practices.

  • Possess the zeal, passion, or enthusiasm to make a positive difference to our service users’ life by engaging them appropriately to improve the quality of their life.
  • Be creative, resourceful, a people person, who is caring, fun-loving, with outgoing personality, able to work on own initiative, well organised, well-motivated with the ability to others, and have an encouraging, positive disposition.
  • Be a confident and proficient use of Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and other commonly used office software packages.
  • Be able to develop & maintain positive working relationships with staff and the wider professional groups or individuals, with appropriate negotiating and diplomatic skills.
  • Have experience of organising activities or events for people with special needs or comparable experience in a public facing role, with excellent customer service skills.
  • Hold as minimum, an NVQ in Health and Social Care level 2/equivalent or willingness to work towards it.
  • Possess good research skills for suitable activities and able to analyse data, harvest research materials to produce a written paper/ reports with attention to details.
  • Be flexible in the approach to work, ability to accept service instructions and willingness to work some evenings and weekends occasionally.
  • Be able to manage work pressures, conflicting demands and plan/prioritise own tasks/workload to meet deadlines.
  • Show tact, discretion and respect for confidentiality and dignity in service users’ care.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
