Job Description

GBR Recruitment Ltd are working exclusively with a major food client, recruiting for an experienced Quality Technician / Technical Assistant / Technologist to join the Quality / Technical side of the business.In this key Quality role, you will be involved with new product lines (NPD, EPD & NPI) improvement of existing product lines, plus new Quality / Technical processes of testing and technologies on-site.You will inspect and analyse all food products from raw materials through to finished product samples, to ensure compliance, product safety, specifications, and BRC / company standards.Duties:

  • Log samples and sample flow within QC.
  • Retain sample management and sample flow.
  • Perform chemical, physical testing and sensory evaluation of products or incoming ingredients as identified by the current specification for the item.
  • Enter test results into SAP resulting in an acceptance or rejection.
  • Communicate rejections and information updates to important contacts in Quality, Operations, Purchasing and Customer Care. Types of communications include email, making notes in system and verbal.
  • Perform basic equipment calibrations per frequency noted in calibration procedures.
  • Perform instruments, equipment and quality deviations troubleshooting in laboratory.
  • Identify opportunity for improvements in QC.
  • Maintain work in a hygienic and safe work environment.
  • Provide backup and support to team members.
  • Perform administrative tasks within QC
Attributes in this Quality Role:
  • Vocational diploma (pre-university) in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related discipline or time served in a Quality Technician, QC, Technical Assistant, or similar role.
  • Experience of Laboratory, QC techniques or both required.
  • Operational experience and affinity on laboratory system, analytical equipment, and instruments such as weighing balance, Densitometer, Refractometer, Moisture balances, titrator and Sieve testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of chemical substances, hazardous material, and related regulations.
  • Basics of Sensory Evaluation.
