Job Description

Service Desktop TechnicianPermanentWednesburyHours of Work : 09.00am till 5.00pm with 30 minutes lunchSalary and company benefits : £30k to £40K with 28 days holiday, free parking and company pension.We are working in partnership with our client who are growing rapidly, they are recruiting for an experienced Service Desktop Technician, this is a permanent opportunity.The Role

  • Resolve reports of various infrastructure problems, including but not limited to:
  • Computing Windows servers (Virtual and physical) and PC environments. On premise and cloud hosted.
  • Communications - LAN, WAN, Mobile and softphone technologies.
  • Security - Firewall, Antivirus and associated elements of security.
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance activities for computer system software and configurations.
  • Perform environment health checks and leads required remedial activities.
  • Works closely with Technology Manager to develop the procedures and request provisioning processes, and follow those ongoing, once approved.
  • Assist in coordinating changes to software configurations.
  • Communicates both formally and informally with customers and end users.
  • Provide local and remote desktop support ensuring deliverables are met.
  • Participate in team functions and projects.
  • Work closely with Technology Manager in planning, implementation and maintenance of Windows Server infrastructure that performs to defined business expectations.
Qualifications for Service Desktop Technician.
  • Proven ability to be a part of, build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver result on time
  • Solid understanding of Windows workstation and server operating systems
  • Solid understanding of virtualization technologies for servers
  • Solid understanding of SAN and backup technologies
  • Solid understanding of Security related technologies including firewall, anti-virus and web monitoring technologies (and associated procedures)
  • Solid understanding of High Availability and Technical Disaster Recovery
  • Solid understanding of core collaboration technologies Microsoft Office 365 including Exchange and SharePoint Understanding of general voice (phone and mobile management) systems
  • Ability to quickly absorb and understand complex processes and systems.
