Job Description

Title: Operations ManagerLocation: West MidlandsSalary: Up to £43,000Term: PermanentSRG are working with a leading waste management and recycling company who have a long and successful history of supporting the UK chemical industry. They are now looking for an Operations Manager to join the team in the West Midlands. The successful candidate will manage the day to day operations of the transfer station, whilst giving the highest priority to Safety, Health and Environmental goals. You will analyse and improve operational efficiencies, maximisefinancial performance, develop and deliver customer service excellence for external and internal clients.Benefits: 37.5 working hours per week Monday - Friday, 7:30am til 4:00pm, 21 days holiday + statutory bank holidays, company pension scheme, enhanced sick pay, cycle to work, PPE provided, and company discounts at retailers.Accountabilities

  • Lead, coach, inspire, support and motivate the team, and always be leading by example and striving towards operational excellence.
  • Ensure the days work gets done today as efficiently and cost effectively as possible without compromising health, safety and environment compliance.
  • Meet deadlines and measure the performance of the site through KPIs. These KPIs are to be used to effectively manage the day-to-day operation, taking appropriate action to ensure they are met or improved upon.
  • Forward planning by reviewing transfer operations that will meet any new legislative changes or providing innovative new service offerings for our commercial team to sell into.
  • Ensure adherence to a formal, structured and controlled process for the transfer station.
  • Be in communication with all the relevant people / departments and co-ordinating all relevant inputs (people, plant and process) to ensure KPIs, SLAs and delivery targets are achieved.
  • Forward planning scheduling and reviewing workloads will be necessary to ensure this is achieved cost effectively.
Requirements
  • Min HNC Chemistry qualification- proficient in laboratory analytical techniques and interpretation desired.
  • COTC level 4 in managing hazardous treatment and transfer operations.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Experience of working within the Hazardous Waste industry.
  • Relevant professional experience, including managing a mixed skills team in a busy demanding environment.
  • Preparation of risk assessments & method statements.
  • Understanding of the commercial aims of contracts.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste legislation.
  • Have a working understanding of ISO 9001,14001 & 18001.
  • Strong relationship management, leadership and motivational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to relate to and earn respect from workers with varying backgrounds.
