Job title: Fleet Engineer (Rolling Stock)Job location: West Midlands Salary: £45-50k per annum depending on experienceShifts: Days onlyHours per week: 40 hours Start date: ASAPIndustries considered: Rolling Stock, Automotive, Aerospace, HGV, PSV, Defence, Ex-Forces Client Summary: * My client is currently seeking a fleet engineer from a vehicle / asset maintenance back-ground to support the technical management team to provide a safe and dependable service.Job Profile - Safety Critical / Safety Related:Work Experience: * Oversee the day-to-day technical management of the current fleet.* Ownership of fleet performance and safety.* Ensure in service failures are correctly reported, rectified, tracked, and closed out.* Analysis of fleet data to find any trends to help improve reliability and prevent in service failures.* Create and update Key Performance Indicators to help visualise fleet performance.* Work closely with other departments within the business to help improve fleet per-formance.* Further develop the maintenance regime, including instructions, procedures, and as-sociated documents, to help improve the reliability of the fleet and cost effectiveness of vehicle maintenance.* Investigate and review all fleet safety related incidents.* Assist the Technical Trainer and Assessor in knowledge transfer to the Maintenance team.* Create weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to communicate the performance of the fleet internally and externally.* Monitor National Incident Reports (NIRs) to understand if failures on other parts of the railway could impact the fleets.* Manage the fleet risk register.* Ensure Rolling Stock procedures and policies are correct and up to date.* Ensure any modifications are captured within Engineering Change.* Chair and manage monthly meetings relating to fleet performance such as warranty meetings.* Create and maintain good working relationships with the vehicle manufacturer and system OEMs.* Help influence the culture within the department to continuously improve.* Working occasional evenings, nights and weekends if required as part of the role.* Carry out rostered on-call duties as part of Fleet Technical On-call.* Any other duties that are commensurate with the role.Work Experience: 1. At least five years experience in a technical engineering position.2. Experience in finding and diagnosing faults in complex mechanical, electrical, elec-tronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.3. Experience of working with rolling stock in a depot environment.4. Experience of one or more of the following:5. Reliability Improvement;6. Maintenance Optimisation;7. Modifications/Engineering Change.8. In depth knowledge of rolling stock systems and technologies.9. Knowledge of Rail Industry standards, in particular, those relevant to light rail.10. Good commercial skills.Education:11. Time served Engineering Apprenticeship.12.
