FCDO Services - Online listingTechnical Team Leader – Security, IT, Radio, Satellite and Data Cabling Installations£31,638 - £44,197 plus £1,750 location allowanceOverseas travel required, up to 22 weeks per yearBased at Hanslope Park near Milton Keynes, MK19 7BHThe team at FCDO Services work to protect the UK’s interests, and to protect the work of government customers and partners, both in the UK and overseas. We do that by offering a wide range of services at the highest levels of security - from construction to logistics; IT to interior design – for government sites and buildings worldwide. Our work means plenty of technical installation, maintenance and decommissioning at sites around the world. We could be installing CCTV at the perimeter of a government compound in South America. Laying new wiring to refurbish a High Commission in Asia. Or setting up a new radio tower for 24/7 secure communication at an embassy in Europe. Our installation work takes us all over the globe – and you’ll be at the heart of it, as our new Technical Team Leader.Manage a team safely to provide security worldwideYou’ll manage a team of up to five colleagues or contractors, working on wide-ranging installation projects – whether it’s access doors or CCTV; data cabling or satellites – both at home and overseas. No matter where you are in the world, you’ll ensure that the team’s work is delivered on time and to exceptionally high standards. You’ll also make sure each project complies with regulation and that your colleagues and our customers are kept safe, so Health and Safety and site management safety training would be a plus. And of course, you’ll help ensure that each project keeps our customer promise – to be reliable, responsive, and build relationships of trust.Travel to the farthest reaches – and reach new heightsUltimately, this role will test your skills. You’ll be overseas for around six weeks at a time, with preparation time in the UK between each stretch. With every project, you’ll face new challenges: things that demand you be resourceful; self-motivated; calm in complex situations. After all, you might be on an installation project on one of the world’s most remote islands. Or working in the hottest or coldest climates. Or in a country with unreliable power supply. Your team will look to you to make sure all the right preparation is in place, no matter the challenge. It takes technical knowledge, certainly, and experience in CCTV or radio would be an advantage – but it’s also about the motivation to push yourself and your team, to take on some truly eye-opening challenges.Bring existing experience to something extraordinaryThe work we do has an exceptional impact. Your team’s installation of a new CCTV network, for instance, could ensure the safety of staff and visitors at an overseas embassy. But whilst the impact is rare, the process will be just like what you’re used to elsewhere. So, whether you gained your experience of technical installation in the public or private sector, you’ll find that your skills are transferrable. It’s the same job you’ve done before – but now with greater impact, worldwide travel, and a sense of pride that’s hard to match. Oh, and all the benefits that come with a career in the Civil Service, including a competitive pension. In short, it’s your job, bigger.Closing Date – Midnight on the 7th June 2021Asset:Take installation experience to extraordinary placesTechnical Team LeaderPost:You install and repair systems like CCTV, radio, and satellites for a living. Now, you’ll take your team, your skills, and your passport to some incredible places, to support our government customers. Whether it’s repairing CCTV in Europe, laying IT wiring in the Americas, or installing satellites in Asia, it’s time to open up a new world of potential. It’s time for your job, bigger.
