At our Payroll Department in Medtronic, plc, we focus on delivering a first-class payroll service, providing relevant and qualitative information to help strategically drive the business forward and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.This is an office-based job and can be based either in Watford, UK or Galway, Ireland.A Day in the Life

  • Analyzes, audits, reconciles and resolves complex payroll processing and employee payroll issues to ensure smooth payroll processing.
  • Ensures payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, and applicable regulations.
  • Researches and interprets regulatory requirements and resolves tax, withholding, garnishment, and compensation and benefits issues for payroll processing.
  • Responds to auditing and regulatory inquiries.
  • Creates standard operating procedures, responds to merger and acquisition activities, and monitors monthly journal entry and accurate schedules.
  • May respond to and resolve client inquires.
  • May work with system programmers to achieve solutions or administer company payroll system with outside service provider.
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Completing the Monthly Payroll to ensure the timely processing of payroll across a number of UK and Irish sites.
  • Ensuring Payroll procedures are compliant with internal regulations.
  • Ensuring all statutory payroll returns are filed and paid over to the respective authority.
  • Posting and reconciliation of payroll related activities to the general ledger.
  • Fully comply with Pension controls and Audit.
  • Excellent time management, administration skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work on own initiative and perform well under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Main point of contact for internal and external auditors on all payroll related issues.
  • Work as part of a team, rotating responsibilities to ensure flexibility is maintained within the function.
  • Active role in Payroll related Projects.
  • Must Haves
  • Experience of UK Payroll in a similar role is essential.
  • Previous experience in a multinational environment.
  • You are a dynamic team player and can work effectively and proactively partnering with HR.
  • You are experienced in working with multiple customers (employees, tax authorities, etc.), with excellent people and communication skills.
  • You are a good communicator and fluent in English, both in writing and speaking.
  • You have an excellent ability to deal with and protect the confidential nature of information you are in contact with and are a self starter, and organized individual who can work under pressure and keep to deadlines.
