Job Description

Our client is seeking a Communications and Engagement Officer on an initial 4 Month contract with the possibility of an extension.Working Hours and Pay Rate:Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00. At a pay rate of £15.69 Per HourJob Purpose:To support the reopening and ongoing success of Watford town centre by providing timely, accurate and informative information to the public and businesses, focusing on reopening and visiting safely during the Covid-19 pandemic.Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging and timely communication and information campaigns to ensure that those working in and visiting Watford town centre are fully informed about current Covid-19 regulations so they are able to keep themselves, and others safe
  • Use the full remit of communication channels available to promote messaging, this will include face to face communications as appropriate and digital / online
  • Engage with partners to foster their support in amplifying messaging so that it is consistent and more effective
  • Monitor and track activity to ensure that it is achieving positive results and use the data / intelligence to modify campaigns or inform new campaigns
  • Write copy to support information to be disseminated, ensuring it is appropriate and complies with national legislation and regulation
  • Explore where businesses would benefit from information collateral and facilitate them receiving what they need
  • Skills and Experience:
  • A-Level standard or equivalent education or relevant experience
  • PR, communications, marketing qualification or relevant experience
  • Excellent communication skills across the full range of communication channels, recognising the different voices and approach required in each
  • Ability to develop communication campaigns
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of all digital/social media channels (Facebook / Twitter / Instagram etc)
  • Understanding of graphic design packages
  • Understanding of consultation and engagement techniques (quantitative and qualitative) , including online software, and the ability to analyse results accurately
  • Confidence to deal with a range of external media both proactively and reactively
  • Ability to understand the needs of different st
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong team-working skills
  • Good level of interpersonal skills, including listening and communication of all kinds.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and manage own diverse and complex workload
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Understanding of the need for confidentiality
  • Experience of working in demanding communication and engagement function.
  • Commitment to customer care and the delivery of high-quality communications and engagement service
  • Competence in the use of IT applications
