It has been recognised by The Queen’s Awards both for Export and Innovation and is ISO 9001:2008 certified.CandidateDue to planned rapid growth and new products coming onto the market, Thermoteknix are now looking to recruit an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. This position will report to the Head of Mechanical Engineering and will be working alongside our existing Mechanical Design Engineers on a variety of infrared thermal imaging related projects.Work profileThis post will involve working in the mechanical engineering department on new product design and development. The work will involve 3D modelling (Solidworks), design analysis, drafting, supplier and customer liaison, prototype building, product testing and production support.In addition, we will expect the candidate to be able to contribute significantly to project development both as a lead technical role and as project manager. Our projects normally involve contributions from our electronics, software and production engineers and the candidate must have the familiarity/experience with these to be effective in a multidisciplinary team.Skills and ExperienceThe role would suit a candidate who is bright / industrious, with a proven academic record, and a good mechanical engineering degree.Candidates should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the technologies involved in their current experience. The successful applicant will be genuinely interested in the process of mechanical design and product development and capable of being individually responsible for their work and share responsibility with others. The individual should have energy and be strongly self motivated, equally happy undertaking everything from leading edge design to straightforward mechanical drafting. In addition, they should have the enthusiasm and drive to contribute and inspire team success.In addition to a good academic background and relevant experience, the candidate should have the ability and enthusiasm to find out about, and work in, new areas.
