Products range from turn-key industrial systems for cement kilns, to miniature infrared cameras for stand-alone product or third party integration into hi-tech surveillance applications.The company is privately owned and has its headquarters in Waterbeach, Cambridge, UK. Thermoteknix has been recognised by receiving multiple Queen’s Awards in both Export and Innovation categories and is ISO 9001:2015 certified.CandidateWe are looking to recruit a Senior FPGA Design Engineer to work in our busy R&D Hardware department, working on a variety of infrared thermal imaging related projects. This position will be based at our Head Office in Waterbeach, just North of central Cambridge.This role would suit a candidate who wants the challenge and interest of working with a variety of technologies and is happy to immerse themselves in application area that may be outside their previous experience i.e. a flexible approach is demanded. A commitment to producing right first time quality products is also essential.Work ProfileThe post involves a wide variety of FPGA design tasks supporting infrared system design. Awareness of the interaction with other design disciplines is expected (layout, EMC etc).The technologies involved are varied but the core requirement is excellent FPGA’s/CPLDs skills. Thermoteknix use Verilog for FPGA design on the full range of families (Actel, Xilinx, Lattice, Altera). Familiarity with other technologies is also of benefit, including: SoC, DSP and microprocessors, precision and video rate analogue design, optoelectronics and power supply design.Our projects normally involve contributions from our mechanical, software and production engineers and the candidate must be effective in a multidisciplinary team.Academic Qualifications We are looking for candidates with A level grades (A or B) plus a degree in Electronics or Physics (or the equivalent).Experience RequiredThe successful candidate should have at least 7 years of significant experience in FPGA design and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the principles involved. Other important qualities include a good academic background and the ability and enthusiasm to find out about, and work in, new areas.
