Products range from turn-key industrial systems for cement kilns, to miniature infrared cameras for stand-alone product orthird party integration into hi-tech surveillance applications.The company is privately owned and has its headquarters in Waterbeach, Cambridge, UK. Thermoteknix has been recognised by receiving multiple Queens Awards in both Export and Innovation categories and is ISO 9001:2015 certified.CandidateThermoteknix are looking to recruit an Embedded Systems Engineer with proven experience in achieving exemplary results with performance on various embedded systems.This role would suit a candidate who enjoys the challenge and interest of working with a variety of technologies and is happy to immerse themselves in technology areas that may extend their previous experience i.e. a flexible approach is demanded. Attentionto detail and commitment to producing right first time quality products are essential.Work ProfileAn initial part of the project will concern writing firmware for a small embedded PIC32 microcontroller, so experience with that or a similar platform (e.g. Arm Cortex-M, Arm Cortex-R) would be beneficial. The project will require appreciation of the lowpower, low memory footprint of software on such devices and an appreciation of communications interfaces such as I2C, UART and/or SPI. The use of basic laboratory equipment to diagnose and test systems is expected.Experience with embedded Linux systems is desirable as there will be a degree of interaction with software on these systems. Similarly, experience in C/C++ and with building custom Linux kernels and board support packages (BSPs) for hardware platforms basedon e.g. Xilinx Zynq, Freescale i.MX would be important assets.The candidate should be able to demonstrate having achieved these goals on previous projects. Details of personal projects or a public GitHub account (or similar) in any CV will be well received.Academic QualificationsWe are looking for candidates with A level grades (A or B) and a suitable higher level qualification, to degree standard, in a numerate discipline.Experience RequiredCandidates must have at least 5 years experience developing in an embedded environment and should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the technologies involved in their current experience.
