Job Description

About the Company Talent84 is delighted to be exclusively representing our client, a industry-leading electrification technology manufacturing business with a global network of engineering centres, at the forefront of technology in their field in the recruitment of a DesignChange Controller. About the Role Reporting to the Project Group Lead, this is a brand new role to work closely with both the engineering team and global manufacturing team, to manage the whole new product Integration transition from engineering to production.You will be responsible for managing all product configuration documentation through the lifecycle of a product., the structuring of product traceability, generating part numbers for the overall product, assembles, sub-assemblies and individual custom partsfor engineering to develop. Main Responsibilities

  1. Manage the whole configuration of our new products
  • Interface between Engineering and Manufacturing documentation requirements for New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Generate product configuration structure and allocate part numbers (Top level, assemblies/subassemblies, custom)
  • Guide Engineering as to documentation/drawing issue versioning numbering for prototypes and production
  • Enter, maintain and update formal released information into the companys Infor Syteline Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Check, audit and ensure all documentation meets the requirements for manufacturing.
  1. Track and route Engineering Change workflow to completion, including:
  • Evaluate ECR/ECN submissions for accuracy, and ensure required content is logical and legible in accordance with ECR/N procedures.
  • Consolidate and audit the document package relating to ECR/N markups to assure all related issues have been included and addressed.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Change Control System including updating ECR/N submissions with appropriate part number, BOM, and routing information.
  • Create mark-ups as necessary and coordinate with Engineering departments to acquire the required updated documentation ensuring it is updated in accordance with ECR/N instructions
  • Determine appropriate approval path tracking ECR/N status triggers in the approval cycle.
  • Perform ECN Implementation within the ERP System including document corrections or drawing updates.
  • Interface with engineers, originators and ECR/N approval authorities to resolve outstanding issues and monitor timely review, signature approval and release of documentation.
  1. Direct appropriate ECR/N review meetings to facilitate ECR/N completion and closure
  2. Coordinate implementation and ECR/N support activities with other CM staff members.
  3. Analyse information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  4. Create and edit Bills of Materials and part master fields in ERP System.
  5. Communicate with cross discipline global stakeholders.
  6. When required, ensure serial numbers & manufacturing implementation dates for all global manufacturing sites affected are provided.
  7. Coordinate distribution of and access to all related ECR/N product documentation to affected manufacturing and service sites.
  8. Provide training to others who participate in or use the output of the ECR/N process.
  9. Identify, coordinate and implement process improvements to assure department functions are thorough, accurate, understandable, timely and responsive to needs of customers and manufacturing/service sites.
  10. Coordinate with IT Administrator(s) to add and update user defined fields to enhance user interface and improve data extraction and reporting.
  11. Process development: Collaborate with Curtis global Configuration Management (CM) function and assist to refine Operation and Quality Assurance (QA) processes and procedures to assist global efficiency for new product integration
  12. Organize and accomplish job tasks to comply with established policies, procedures, work instructions and supervisory guidance to assure department objectives and performance metrics are achieved.
  13. Participate in CM Department Internal Audit program to assure compliance with the Quality Management System requirements and applicable policies, procedures and work instructions
About you To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience gained in a complex/electromechanical engineering environment with an organisation that designs and manufactures technical products. You will ideally be from a technicalbackground with a minimum of an HND in a technical/engineering discipline (preferably educated to Degree level in a electrical/electronics related subject -not essential).The position requires strong organizational skills, process improvement skills, balance multiple projects, technical accuracy, and the ability to compile and distribute product configuration information throughout all affected Curtis operational sites. Key selection criteria
  • Demonstrable experience with Document Control, with an emphasis on product structures and configurations, material requisition, or product development group.
  • Demonstrable experience with Design Change Management processes
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Accuracy and strong organisational skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Quick learner
  • Mathematic ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form
  • PC literate with experience in MRP Systems, databases and MS Office including Excel macros and pivot tables.
  • ISO experience is desirable.
  • Manufacturing Experience is desirable
  • R&D environment experience is desirable
