Job Description

KCR Solutions are delighted to be assisting our client, a manufacturing company based in Washington in their search for an experienced Assistant Accountant.You will be a confident individual and be comfortable reporting to an FC who is not based on site 100% of the time.Responsibilities:

  • Producing monthly reports figures and statistics using Microsoft office products.
  • Supporting the Financial Controller in production of the end-to-end monthly management accounts
  • Production of monthly accruals, prepayments and journals in support of the month end management accounts Supporting of the month end and year end processing procedures
  • Daily posting of the bank statements and reconciliation of banks in line with cash management procedures
  • Liaise with third parties including banks, HMRC, auditors and other stakeholders
  • Prepare and submit Quarterly VAT Returns
  • Purchase, Sales and Nominal Ledgers
  • Creation of weekly supplier payment runs through the bank
  • Working with the Sales Team and Credit Control to resolve queries received from customers, providing an excellent customer service. |
  • Maintain own professional and personal development to ensure continued enjoyment of the role and consistent good practice’ delivery to the business
  • Undertake any and all other duties as the business requires, in line with the responsibilities of the role, as may reasonably be requested from time to time
Person Specification
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar finance role is essential
  • AAT Level 4 qualification or working towards this qualification
  • Previous experience of payroll administration is preferable
Knowledge and Skills
  • Questioning skills and the ability to be assertive with customers, suppliers, and other departments within the business
  • Excellent customer service skills are essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to use these in a range of contexts are essential
  • Good numerical skills are essential e.g. the ability to work with ratios, percentages, and understand business-critical measures e.g. direct and indirect costs, margin, turnover, profit etc.
  • Experience of using a range of ERP systems
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team is essential
  • Ability to remain self-motivated and to conclude work to a high standard especially when faced with challenges is essential
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Good attention to detail and quality in all aspects of work is essential
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential
