Job Description

A well respected insurance organisation have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Payroll Advisor to join their Payroll team. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, your main responsibility would be to facilitate payroll processing using your expert payroll knowledge whilst delivering continuous improvement of the payroll function. You will also deputise for the Payroll Manager when required, as well as ensure payroll activity is compliant with statutory and Group requirements and reflects best practice.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Payroll Manager to manage team activity and resource capacity to ensure the monthly collation, verification and application of employee data to the payroll software solution is accurately processed.
  • Produce, validate and submit monthly and annual payroll statutory reporting requirements including taking the lead on tax year end and P11d processing, including monitoring progress.
  • Support and implement the impact of process and ways of working changes required to support the adoption of the HR Technology Roadmap and system releases, ensuring the payroll team are able to advise and maintain levels of customer service across the business.
  • Proactively review, suggest and support in the development of payroll processes, systems and standards to deliver excellent customer service that is compliant with statutory regulations and agreed SLA’s.
  • Interpret, advise, investigate and escalate as appropriate, incoming queries on policies, processes and systems from employees and third parties to support the delivery of a consistent and customer focused service.
  • About You:As the Payroll Senior Advisor, you will be an important member of the payroll team. You will be designing, producing and reviewing payroll controls and exception reporting data, identifying trends and potential issues with pay and benefits. You will also be the type of person who can energise the team, providing innovative ideas and who can challenge yourself and others to achieve higher levels of quality and output to achieve great results. You will be a strong team player who uses their initiative to get things done correctly and on time. You will also be or have:
  • Extensive payroll experience, or a relevant Payroll qualification (or willingness to work towards) e.g. CIPP Foundation Degree in Payroll Management - if you dont currently have a Payroll qualification but do have extensive experience we will support you with gaining the relevant qualifications.
  • Experience of deputising for a Payroll Manager.
  • Detailed understanding of Payroll and Pensions legislation/statutory requirements.
  • Experience in leading on and processing tax year end and P11d’s.
  • Experience of developing payroll processes and service standards.
  • IT literate and experience of using payroll/pensions systems - ideally Zellis Resourcelink.
  • Experience in implementing payroll regulatory changes.
  • Experience in processing a large monthly payroll.
  • Experience in coaching and upskilling other members of the team.
