Job Description

A specialist chemical manufacturer has developed a brand new Operations Manager position to work with the senior leadership team and facilitate a process improvement plan. This is an autonomous, varied role which will incorporate cross functional collaborationand allow you to drive sustainable change in this business ans support them in embedding a new site.Client DetailsAn established business is looking to drive improvements across their sites, aiming to get the most from their processes, people and equipment. As the Operations Manager, you will be working with the engineering and production departments across multiplesites to deliver optimal site efficiency.DescriptionThis is a key role in the business that will allow you to develop and drive process and operational improvements in order to deliver best possible capacity, capability and costings. A big part of this role will be ensuring maintenance and capital investmentsare delivered effectively and safely but will also heavily evolve defining and developing the best practice culture of a new site.Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead, manage and direct the Operations team, to ensure the efficient manufacturing operation and a continuous improvement environment
  • Manage and maintain the groups strategic objectives, budgets and KPIs
  • Support the senior leadership team in creating a collaborative, target driven working environment
  • Work with the Production and Engineering teams to ensure best use of resources and support, best practice sharing and group policy implementation
  • Work with project teams to propose improvement plans or capital investment cases to the board where appropriate
  • Ensure a proactive approach to HSE related issues to deliver continuous improvement of occupational and process safety
  • Implement an effective engineering and process improvement progamme and manage projects to improve efficiency, capability, product conversion costs and asset longevity
  • Support with ensuring that regular reviews of risk assessments / Safe Systems of Work for all activities and work equipment are undertaken
  • Support in determining KPIs for the site and measure them on a regular basis
  • Build a collaborative workforce and work effectively cross-functionally
  • Use methods such as LEAN to reduce overall costs of production and levels of waste, whilst increasing OTIF and meeting all quality criteria
  • Identify CAPEX and investment opportunities and support project implementation
  • Create an environment of employee engagement, training and succession to create a high performance work culture and continuous improvement environment
ProfileThis is a great opportunity for an Operation/Manufacturing Manager with chemical manufacturing experience to shape the culture of a new manufacturing site. The successful applicant will have:
  • Experience managing a cross functional/multi-discipline team
  • Understanding of how to manage an operation through a significant period of change
  • Proven Continuous Improvement knowledge
  • HSE training/understanding
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to coach and develop a team to deliver their maximum potential
  • Practical/proactive problem solver
