Job Description

Lead Engineer – Software and Controls - Coventry - £ Competitive DOEA Lead Engineer – Software and Controls is required for a new automotive Tech Centre and Design Studio. The successful candidate will design, develop and release embedded software for electronic and electrical products, from concept to final product, forelectric vehicle applications.As Lead Engineer – Software and Controls - you will be required to

  • Design and develop embedded software (SW) for charger products (onboard and infrastructure) of a range of new vehicle platforms.
  • This role encapsulates all of the core SW design elements, including hardware plant modelling, high and low level controller algorithm development and overall SW generation for the embedded product, as well as technical management, planning, monitoring,in conjunction with all other areas of technical specialism within the projects.
  • You will provide specialist technical knowledge of advance control techniques for ACDC & DCDC conversion of grid connected subsystems systems, in the field of battery electric vehicles.
  • Participate in decision making and planning reviews to ensure timely delivery of the embedded SW product to the benefit of internal parties and external collaborators.
  • Be responsible for the analysis and related test and development activities for the technical area in the project workshops / laboratories.
  • Work with Systems and Hardware engineers to determine the SW control requirements and create a successful plan of work for each of the SW products in the vehicle platforms.
As Lead Engineer – Software and Controls –you will have
  • The ability to lead the design and development of embedded SW for automotive electronic and electrical components, identifying areas of innovation and research for new SW products.
  • Experience in the control of DCAC, ACDC or DCDC converters.
  • Proven track record delivering SW for embedded systems using established design practices and software life cycles. Experienced with SIL, MIL, PIL and HIL development lifecycles with model-based development tools e.g. Simulink.
  • Experienced in automatic code generation from modelled environments and tools e.g. dSpace TargetLink.
  • Core knowledge working directly with C, C++, languages, assembly languages.
  • Ability to interpret circuit schematics and understand basic operation of electronics hardware, especially micro peripheral support circuitry.
  • Experience using requirements management and specification tools e.g. DOORS, Cradle, MKS Integrity.
  • Interpretation of system functional requirements in collaboration with Systems/Hardware engineers to produce SW requirements.
