Job Description

The Global Product Manager is responsible for the long-term profitable growth and marketing of the portfolio offering to target market segments by developing and managing it through all its life cycle phases according to market needs and product strategy.The Global Product Manager owns the roadmap and must prioritise building what matters most to achieve the strategic goal and initiatives behind the product.Client DetailsOne of the worlds leading engineering companies which helps customers to use electrical power effectively and to increase industrial productivity in a sustainable way; provides value-added solutions in robotics, machine and factory automation and has around20 locations in UK.For the 2nd year running has been recognised as a Top Employer in UK.DescriptionMain Responsibilities, Tasks & Interactions: 1. Portfolio Offering Manages both new and existing products/system/service launch and leads life cycle management process from phase-in to phase-out to ensure current and future market requirements are met and maximise profitability Coordinates and supervises the product road map. Defines and oversees recovery plans as necessary Owns the technical and market specification for the product/system/service and determines a product/system/service business plan that supports sustainable growth2. Profitability & Pricing Responsible for product/system/service profitability and margin Ensures correct pricing is applied for all countries, products/systems/ services within relevant business area Develops and maintains a global reference price list appropriate to both internal product/system/service positioning strategy and competitor offerings and ensures this is developed and deployed to reflect the needs of individual markets3. New Product Development Works with Research & Development (R&D) to propose and evaluate product feasibility projects and roadmaps for new products/system/service and variants Prioritizes new product/system/service development projects with responsibility for achievement of targets (product characteristics, time, costs, capital expenditure, pay-back) and coordinating cross-functional teams4. Innovation Initiates and drives cross functional and cross-organization product and solution innovation teams, monitors development of all standards and market trends and provides inputs to Research & Development (R&D) for patent screening process and intellectualproperty rights protection5. Product Market Communication Initiates and drives product market communication strategy, including product launch planning and implementation Collaborates with internal Marketing and Sales teams to define marketing communication activities, training activities and sales initiatives to ensure best market coverage6. Market Analysis Leads market intelligence analysis Coordinates analysis to evaluate current market segmentation and related product/system/service positioning Identifies potential gaps in portfolio, both against competition and new market opportunity7. Internal/External InterfaceActs as interface between external market and internal functions (e.g. Sales, Operations, and Research & Development) Forecasting volume trends on a regular basis to ensure Operations capability to fulfil customer orders Sets targets and monitors product/system/service costs, giving inputs to Operations functions (e.g. Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Production) to maximize competitiveness and profitability Ensures technical and commercial support to Sales force for critical or special negotiations8. Process Development & Training Continuously develops product management processes and tools, including interfaces to other key functions and develops sales and tendering tools to support the Sales organization Initiates creation of external and internal product training modules and programs9. People Leadership & Development Ensures (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates, and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR policiesProfileQualification: Degree qualified or equivalent with demonstrable experience Certified Product Manager (PMP) would be an advantageSkills & Experience: 2+ years experience in a product management environment, preferably in an automotive company Experience in managing road maps, developing strategic plans, creating marketing campaigns, and launching products into the market Strong technical understanding and ability to write product requirements for R&D to develop new products Commercial understanding and experienced in building viable business cases Project management expertise Combined problem-solving and effective prioritization capabilities Effective communicator and excellent interpersonal skills Systematic thinking, influencing and people development skillsLeadership and people management experienceJob OfferGreat salaryCareer progression
