Job Description

****ESTIMATOR OPPORTUNITY LOCATED IN WARWICK *****ROLE- ESTIMATORLOCATION- WARWICK (REMOTE WORKING) DURATION- 6 MONTHS CONTRACTRATE- COMPETITIVE My client is an international electricity and gas company and one of the largest investor owned Energy companies in the world. They play a vital role in delivering gas and electricity to many millions of people across Great Britain and North-Eastern US in an efficient, reliable and safe manner.DutiesTo be responsible for all aspects of the cost estimating for all capital works requested of them by the business, Essentially estimating budgets and baselines for new schemes taking place, as well as: all relevant interfaces to the organization, regular reporting on the progress of the cost estimate to the relevant managing Estimator and regular reporting.Describe key competencies required.

  • Proactively participate in the scheme team and prepare estimates including risk & contingency allowance aspects of proposed projects at all stages of development from business needs case to award of construction contracts
  • Work in a collaborative manner with Project Development to develop the best value project solution to meet the business need, challenge solution where appropriate, liaise with commercial, procurement and other parts of the organisation, to obtain the information required.
  • Support the Delivery Units during the tender phase, with cost estimating and clarifying assumptions providing information and participating in tender negotiations
  • Maintain and update the hub cost database to reflect current costs, including extracting actual cost data from completed projects
  • Provide cost data on current, past and planned projects to support communications with the Regulator in unit cost format or as required by the Regulator
  • Report on the progress of the cost estimate to the manager requesting the production of the estimate.
  • Provide best practice estimating and costing support to the Asset Management and Capital Delivery teams for proposed projects at the various stages of development. This is to include proactive participation in the project team to provide permanent plant and equipment cost advice to the design team as the design develops and is optimised, as well as providing cost estimates at distinct design stages or gateways.
  • Essential experience required
  • Construction Background or Civils Background is essential e.g. so delivery/designer/Quantity surveying experience onsite progressing to Estimator
  • Technical experience/transmissions/overhead lines/ hvdc knowledge
  • Commercial experience
  • Building up a rate experience from first principles. This experience is Essential
  • Estimating of Labouring resource and Plant resource and durations required
  • Benchmarking experience
  • Sequences of work knowledge/detail
  • Tender building within a Utility background
