Job Description

We’re supporting a global powertrain consultancy in their search for a Component Engineer to join their design and development team.The companyWith over 70 years of experience, our client provides expertise in the electrification portfolio, in engineering and simulation as well as testing and the adoption of ADAS. They are committed to improving the performance of traditional powertrains and helpingOEMs develop zero-impact emission mobility solutions. They continue to gather new and valuable insights from data intelligence to develop engineers, same time and reduce costs.The roleAs a Component Engineer, you’ll bring technical expertise to the field of modern passenger car powertrain systems. You’ll work across structural, electrical, battery and fuel cell components to deliver improvements to existing and future designs. Other responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting CAE and CFD analysis data
  • Providing design verification test plans
  • Delivering concepts on time, to budget
  • Prioritising collaboration with multiple functional groups
  • Supporting client project meetings
The requirementsWe’re looking for an experienced component engineer, suitably qualified in design. Other requirements include:
  • Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (PhD is a plus)
  • Proficient in at least 1 CAD package
  • Demonstrable understanding of vehicle/powertrain system and component requirements
  • Knowledge of design for manufacture and machining techniques
  • Relishes a challenge and driven to exceed customer expectations
  • Organised and able to manage requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Able to drive innovation and come up with new ideas and solutions
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Full UK Driver’s licence
  • Flexible and willing to travel to supplier sites
