Job Description

Job title: Compliance OfficerLocation: WarwickDuration: 12 months initially The Role:The Compliance Officer needs to be sufficiently independent and is not involved in the operation and management of the ESO business. The scope of the role will be to undertake the compliance activities in the ESO license special condition 2N and 2O and reportannually to Ofgem on the level of compliance that has been achieved, the controls frameworks in place and on investigations that have been carried out.Responsibilities: Translate the license obligations into business policies and rules and provide guidance to the business to comply with, and report on the policies Design and deliver an effective and engaging communications and training programme on business separation for ESO Provide advice and information to the SO leadership team (incl. Single Appointed Director) and the SO business on business separation matters, taking into account the relevant position of industry stakeholders, government policy and regulators as well asthe wider impact on ESO. Provide advice and information for the purposes of ensuring the implementation of practices, procedures and systems that are adopted by the ESO in accordance with the compliance statement. Report to the ESO Business Separation Compliance Committee to provide insight and assurance regarding the ESOs compliance with the specified business separation duties and the overall effectiveness of the control around compliance management. Proactively manage and investigate any complaint or representation in relation to business separation requirements and recommend and advise on the remedial action which may include escalation to the Compliance Committee and ESO Board. Design, produce, maintain and update the Compliance Statement for ESO under special condition 2N and 2O. Design and produce the annual compliance report for ESO under special condition 2N and 2O. Report annually to the ESO Business Separation Compliance Committee and Ofgem about the activities undertaken during the period covered by the annual report. Maintain an accurate and update to date version of the license, consents, derogations, and managechanges to the ESO license and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders Develop and maintain an accurate and update to date version of license obligations matrix for ESO and ensure license obligations are allocated to business leads Manage the financial ringfencing assurance process and prepare the required reports and certificates for the ESO Board. Identify and work with relevant stakeholders in the implementation of continuous improvement in license management and compliance processes.Requirements: Working in a compliance or similar regulatory role Ability to interpret written rules and obligations and deliver pragmatic solutions. Experience of effectively managing relationships with team members and stakeholders and working collaboratively to deliver solutions. Experience of creating departmental priorities which align to the strategic direction of the wider business. Proven ability to effectively influence at all levels of the organisation. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading teams and gaining support and commitment from a broad group. Ability of maintaining independent view and challenging the business in its compliance performance.
