Job Description

Knowing that youve helped change a life is priceless.As a Lead Speech and Language Therapist (Band 7 Equivalent), join the dynamic multidisciplinary teams at Arbury Court and All Saints Hospitals. You will help some of the most vulnerable people build a brighter future and get to enjoy the satisfaction thatbrings.Previous experience working with Mental Health services is essential, alongside prior experience of working with people with learning disabilities and/ or Autism. Prior experience in working in deaf services is advantageous. You will provide the Lead SLTspecialist role in the hospitals; *however, you will also be required to support assessments in hospitals in the local regional as and when the regional service requires this.You will be providing assessments, interventions and treatment and contribute towards MDT assessments and work. You will also be providing training around communication and dysphagia to the staff working on the wards. Building one-to-one rapport with serviceusers, you will encourage engagement and empower recovery.With a strong emphasis on teamwork, youll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of training courses to support you reach your career goals.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your caseloads independently, with clinical supervision and support from more experienced clinicians
  • Demonstrating specialist knowledge in communication and swallowing disorders
  • Completing assessments of communication needs
  • Planning therapy sessions
  • Implementing interventions, including groups and 1:1 work
  • Evaluating outcomes
  • Contributing to team meetings, attend ward rounds, and CPA meetings where you will feedback on service users progress
To be successful in this role, youll need:
  • To be registered with HCPC
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification
  • Experience in managing a caseload involving assessment and treatment of dysphagia
  • Experience of working with people with a learning disability
  • Experience of working with families
  • Evidence of continuing Professional Development
