From remaking public spaces that bring people together, to making cities easier to navigate, we’re focused on making an impact where it matters most - and improving quality of life.Job DescriptionOur Landscape, Masterplanning and Urbanism (LMU) team are looking for a Principal Masterplanner/Urban Designer to come join our growing team, which consists of 30+ people offering the full spectrum of Landscape Architecture, Masterplanning and Urban Design services, from masterplanning, urban regeneration, strategic planning, design concept through to detail and implementation as well as Environmental Assessment and LVIA.At Arcadis, you won’t just be transforming the world around you, you will also have the opportunity to reimagine where you could go. You will collaborate and lead multi-disciplinary teams including our in-house disciplines and high-profile designers as well as our sector leading external partners. You’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s largest, most complex and technically demanding projects. These currently include major large-scale masterplans, city centre public realm, regeneration projects, green infrastructure strategies and landscape masterplanning for some of the UK’s largest residential and mixed-use developments as well as significant infrastructure projects such as:

  • Northstowe Masterplan / Urban extension
  • Otterpool Park Garden Settlement
  • Perry Barr Regeneration Development
  • Various Future High Street Fund projects and Town Investment Funds
  • Rochdale Canal and various other Projects (Canal and River Trust)
  • Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) such as Lower Thames Crossing.

  • However, not all of our projects are large scale.   • Degree/Diploma in urban design, landscape architecture, architecture or closely related subject. Chartered membership with Landscape Institute or equivalent
  • Technical lead on Projects shaping and delivering exceptional outcomes for clients. Focus on masterplanning and urban design, with a specific background in residential masterplanning i.e. urban extensions, garden towns/villages and town centre masterplans
  • Experienced in the production of masterplan documents, design/development briefs, design codes and design and access statements on multi-disciplinary masterplanning projects, ideally within a consultancy environment
  • Highly capable and crafted experience in successful high-quality bid writing, ability to influence the business with developing relevant communities of Practice and further Value Propositions
  • Skilled communicator with experience of attending and facilitating stakeholder and community consultation events
  • Confident in design report production and creatively combining graphics and text to communicate design ideas
  • Good hand-drawing and graphic skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and 3d modelling software, and experienced Adobe Suite user
  • Driving licence and ability to travel when necessary
