Due to the award of significant new programmes, aworld-renowned globalmanufacturer to the aerospace, defence and technology sectors has a new vacancy for aMetallurgist to join the team. With experience working in precision engineering you will have a relevantqualification (Metallurgy or Materials Science) and an understanding of special processing techniques and testing characterisation.Commutable from: Chester, Liverpool, Runcorn, Manchester, Middlewich, St Helens, Warrington, Salford, Stockport. Salary: £ 38,000 - £ 45,000 p.a. + pension Suitable for: Metallurgist, Materials Science Engineer, Senior Metallurgist, Material Process Engineer, Senior Laboratory Engineer.The RoleWorking for a leading and innovative manufacturer as the Metallurgist you will ideally have a good understanding of aerospace manufacturing techniques and in-depth knowledge of testing techniques.Key responsibilities include:Providing day to day support to the internal production facilities and external suppliers.Performance of metallographic investigations with a high degree of autonomy.Approval of internal special process techniques.Participation in special process audits both within the company, regulatory authorities, and suppliers.Participation in the multidisciplinary Core of Excellence team.Produce technical reports and conducting technical investigationsCarry out R&D on new materials or componentsThe PersonApplicants must have a degree in metallurgy, or materials engineering ideally with a minimum of two years experience working in a Metallurgy Lab. A qualified Engineer you will be conversant with technical report writing, supplier and customer liaison andable to project manage research programmes.Knowledge of heat treatment, forging and properties of a wide range of steels and alloys would be beneficial.For more information send a CV to Lee Smith
