TheRadio Frequency and Cryogenics (RFC) group within ASTeC designs, builds, develops, and supports advanced RF and cryogenic systems for high-energy particle accelerators. RF systems are the backbone of our particle accelerators, providing the energy needed bythe particle beam to reach relativistic speeds.About the roleAs a RF Engineer your expertise will be utilised on a number projects from the next generation test facility, Compact Linear Accelerator for Research and Applications (CLARA) to cryomodules for Hi-Lumi Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) at CERN. Additionally,we are heavily involved in the operation of a compact electron accelerator for security and industrial applications.Our small team is very agile, taking responsibility for the development, procurement, commissioning and operation of high power RF systems for the various particle accelerator projectsDuring a typical day you could be working on:The upgrade, maintenance and operation of CLARA high power RF systems.Operation and development of RF systems within the Linac Test Facility (LTF).Design studies for high power RF systems on UK-XFEL and the Relativistic Ultra-fast Electron Diffraction and Imaging (RUEDI) accelerator.You will work closely with other RF engineers and scientists, mechanical designers and external contractors to continuously develop and improve these high-power RF systems.About YouIt is essential you have:
