Job Description

Electrical Engineer Basedin: North WestSalary: Negotiable - Whilst all salaries are graded, Sembcorp are keen to attract, retain and develop the highest calibre of colleague.   • Support the North West regional team who are made up of mechanically biased engineers
  • Assemble, install,test, certifyandmaintainelectrical wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus andfixtures
  • Planandcarryoutsmall projects in conjunction with the Operations Support team
  • Install andmaintainthree phase and single phasecontrol circuitsformotors,pumps and fans (VSD, P&IDs and Instrumentation)
  • Carry out planned condition monitoring Thermography/Partial Discharge checks in line with our CMMS
  • Modify electrical control panels and update drawings
  • Use CMMS to support role with Electrical Planned Maintenance
  • Inspectelectrical systems,equipmentandcomponentstoidentifyhazards, defectsand theneedforadjustmentorrepairandtoensurecompliancewithcodesof practice
  • Monitor, adjustandidentifyfaultsasrequired
  • Schedule and undertake periodic maintenance on all electrical equipment, components, and installations
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good working order to prevent disruption of activities
  • Recommend replacement for old or faulty electrical components or fittings to the management team
  • Work in collaboration with the mechanical team
  • Support the company in increasing profitability by managing resources efficiently and making necessary recommendations
  • Consider and produce designs for control systems or electrical installations that comply with 17th/ 18th Electrical Regulations, UK good practice and fit for purpose
  • Able to identify continuous improvement ideas and on approval execute accordingly
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Awareness of the DSEAR Regulations
  • Act as the go to Electrical person for the region with a hands-on approach
  • Carryouttesting, inspectionandrectificationworks on electrical equipment across our fleet of engines and associated equipment
Essential Requirements
  • Significant experience as an operational Electrical Engineer is essential
  • City &Guilds 17th Edition Electricalqualification is required
  • Prior experience of Control Systems and control panels including fault finding is a must
  • Previous experience of managing small electrical based projects is essential
  • VSD experience is a must
  • Experience of reading and interpreting electrical schematics is essential
  • Experience with LV and ELV Circuits is required
  • Energy and embedded power generation industry experience would be advantageous
  • HV Operational Plant Experience would be beneficial including HV systems/Switching and protection systems
  • Previous experience of working with Thermography equipment and carrying out inspections is preferred
  • Familiar with Partial Discharge Inspections desirable
  • Full driving licence, as operational sites are located throughout Great Britain
  • Right to work in the UK is essential
Desirable Requirements
  • Awareness of ATEX / DSEAR regulations would be desirable
  • Experience of working with PLC’s of various types is required
  • Alternator and commissioning experience would be advantageous
  • Experience of Cummins, Bergen or Jenbacher engines would be beneficial
