Take a look at the role outline and if you think you fit the bill, and want to work as a Data Engineer within a teamthat rewards performance, drives personal development and offers a great place to work delivering exciting projects, then get in touchThe Data Engineer role will be responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining the Data Pipelines, Integrations, Infrastructure and associated code that feed the Data & Analytics platform and directly connected systems and processes.The role willwork closely with business stakeholders, system owners, 3rd party software vendors and the wider IT team to support the ongoing development of the Data & Analytics platform.They will also provide strategic advice on the businesss Data & Analytics roadmapand guidance on development of the IT Solutions technology stack.What you will be doing

  • Working closely with senior business stakeholders to understanding reporting and analytical requirements to acquire and present relevant datasets.
  • Create and maintain the integrity of the Data Pipelines into the Data & Analytics platform using traditional Extraction, Transform and Load (ETL) concepts.
  • Build, develop and maintain transactional system interfaces between Enterprise Grade systems and the Data and Analytics Platform.
  • Work closely with the wider business and data team to support the ongoing acquisition and presentation of data, using common ETL languages e.g. data transformation via T/SQL, Python, C/C# etc.
  • Work with third party cloud service providers to build, test, release and maintain APIs for the ingestion of data into the Murphy data lake.
  • Engage with the business and technology owners for systems that are data sources for the datalake to ensure we plan to manage any impact from updates or upgrades that may impact our data APIs. Working with the business teams to test any relevant new releases.
  • Ensure the timing of the data ingestion aligns to the business data availability requirements and monitor the end to end performance to meet the business need.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance and stability of associated infrastructure services, (eg Azure Synapse, Data Factories and Data Lake);
  • Ensure the security of associated infrastructure and data handling process are maintained (inc Azure Key Vault, role-based access to infrastructure services), as determined by the Data Governance and Technical Design Authorities.
  • Implement information security best practices business-wide in order to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of company data, systems and infrastructure.
  • Awareness of, and support embedding and applying revised Data Governance and Information Security standards and best practices.
  • Applying Murphy best practices to code management, change control, documentation, and release, using Azure DevOps.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate documentation is produced and maintained for the Data & Analytics platform, ensuring agreed Murphy best practices and standards are followed.
  • Work closely with the IT Project managers, where appropriate, to design, develop and oversee implementation of data integration services, applying lighter IT Project principals when self-delivering.
  • When required, attend, and contribute towards the Technical Design Authority (TDA), ensuring best practices and standards are adhered to at all times.
  • Ability to lead technical discussion and technical issue resolution.
Who we are looking for
  • Previous experience of duties defined in "Key Responsibilities & Duties section"
  • Working knowledge of ETL and data ingestion concepts.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft Azure Data Factories, Data Lake, Databricks & Dataverse
  • Data engineering experience with Python and C#, Web service / API development and Messaging Frameworks
  • Knowledge and practical experience working with Azure Integration services (eg LogicApps)
  • Good working knowledge of Cyber/Information Security
  • Demonstrable experience with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps toolsets.
