Job Description

Position: Assistant Design ManagerLocation: WarringtonThe Company Our client is an experienced main contractor and one of the largest construction companies in the UK currently. They work on new build and refurbishment schemes as well as large frameworks valued up to £100m.The role - Assistant Design ManagerTasks and Responsibilities (Include but not limited to):

  • Assist with permanent and temporary works designs for live projects and tenders.
  • Assist with the design process, with a focus on buildability and efficiency, to ensure the optimum solution is arrived at.
  • Assist with the development of Design Deliverables schedule in co-ordination with the designers.
  • Liaising with tender and project teams to ensure design is developed in line with expectations.
  • Assist with ensuring a design programme is prepared and agreed with each designer.
  • Assist with incorporating the design programme into the main programme.
  • Meeting with designers on a regular basis to ensure the design is developing as planned.
  • Assist with monitoring progress of the design and works and updating the programme as necessary.
  • Assist with ensuring Principal Designer duties are fulfilled for pre-construction operations under the CDM Regulations.
  • Providing design input as required for tender submissions.
  • Assist with liaising with clients, designers, subcontractors, suppliers and third parties as appropriate.
  • Assist with providing technical input and advice as required for live projects and tenders.
  • Assist with providing input into programmes where required, including tender, design, construction and Variation / Compensation Event programmes.
  • Assist with coordinating the design of temporary works and where appropriate design elements of temporary works.
  • Assist with reviewing the design drawings and raising technical queries accordingly.
  • Assist with providing construction methodology input and incorporating in the programme where required.
  • Assist with the flow of information from the design team and advising the project team of any impact on progress and programme.
  • Assist providing necessary information to the Procurement Department to enable the procurement of materials and subcontractors.
  • Assist with preparing handover documents.
  • Assist with introducing improvements and innovations where appropriate.
