Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Accountant. Location: Appleton, Warrington.Salary: £27,500 PA Job Purpose:

  • To give full support to the Fleet Management Accountant and Fleet Financial Controller
  • Assist in maintaining and improving procedures to ensure accurate and effective management information
  • Assist in the production of regular and adhoc analysis to support customers with their weekly and monthly P&L submission, ensuring all reports are completed to strict deadlines
  • Assist and complete month end tasks for the Fleet Division
  • Build excellent relationships with our customers, providing finance support & guidance
Main Responsibilities and objectives:Weekly
  • Production of weekly fleet Repair & Maintenance cost reports for inclusion in weekly P&Ls across the operations
  • Production of variance reports for inclusion in weekly P&Ls
  • Charging out various costs to customers
  • Analyse and monitor YTD decom costs
  • Report weekly to the Fleet Division on PO back logs, damage/Maintenance allocations.
  • Production and review of weekly fleet lists, which drive the cost allocation and to challenge where necessary
  • Investigation & resolution of queries
  • Provide weekly financial support to fleet management accountant and the fleet division.
  • Raise all Chorus purchase orders
  • Resolve purchase order queries from our accounts team, seek appropriate authority & follow procedures
  • Gain a good understanding of fleet systems, in order to interrogate financial information (Chorus, Tranman & GTS)
  • Any Ad hoc weekly requirements
Monthly
  • Intercompany & external invoicing - ensure all costs are correctly recovered and are agreed, prepay & accrue where necessary
  • Investigate & resolve any queries
  • Analysis and allocation of company credit card costs
  • Calculation of charges to be invoiced to customers
  • Account recs analysis and preparing prepayments, accruals and journals
  • Assist and provide cover for Fleet Management Accountant and Financial Controller
  • Any ad hoc monthly requirements
The right candidate:
  • AAT Qualified
  • As the successful candidate for the Assistant Accountant, you will have experience in a similar role within a busy accounts department
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel (vlookups, formulas, pivot tables etc.) and Chorus
  • A strong grasp of accounting fundamentals e.g. accruals/prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations
  • You will have strong communication skills and have the ability to work towards deadlines under pressure
  • You will have excellent attention to detail and have the ability to work well in a dynamic, growing team
  • Ability to work using own initiative with limited supervision within fixed guidelines.
