Job Description

Join the team at Sturt House as an Assistant Psychologist and help some of the most vulnerable people society.Reporting to a Registered Psychologist, you will be guided and supervised to assist in undertaking psychometrics, interviews, assessments and formulations for people with mental health conditions.As a Psychologist Assistant, you will assist with running therapeutic groups and building individual rapports with people to create a safe environment to support their care plans.With a strong emphasis on teamwork, youll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of training courses to support you reach your career goals.Role - Assistant PsychologistLocation - Walton-on-the-HillSalary - £19,000 + BenefitsHours - 37.5, Full-TimeYour responsibilities

  • Support therapeutic work with patients by co-facilitating groups, under supervision. Ensuring the effective organisation of therapeutic groups by conducting any necessary support duty deemed appropriate by the line manager/supervisor
  • To undertake discrete pieces of therapeutic work under the close supervision of a qualified Psychologist and within the appropriate competency framework. This may include undertaking structured treatment, supported self-help, homework sessions or other work with a clear and discrete remit
  • To maintain the information, case records and databases to assist in the coordination and organisation of the Psychology services. To maintain and help develop new systems of operating in the Psychology Department
  • Under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist, provide support and advice to multidisciplinary teams in working effectively with patients
  • To contribute to psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist
  • To be successful in this role, youll need
  • Have knowledge of legislation and its implications for the profession and the client groups we work with
  • Be able to receive supervision from a qualified psychologist and be able to use the space to reflect and develop skills and experience, to maintain a record of supervision
  • To meet professional practice expectations and the BPS code of ethics
  • A BPS accredited recognised degree in Psychology conferring Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR)
  • Where you will be working:Location: Sturts Lane, Walton on the Hill, Surrey, KT20 7RQYou will be working at Sturt House, a recovery-focused, rehabilitation unit providing specialist mental health treatment for males aged 18 and over. Working as part of a team, you will provide individualised care and treatment utilising least restrictive practice principles and safe practice to support Service Users in their recovery.Sturt House is committed to delivering a high standard of care, with the Service User encouraged and supported to be actively involved in the development and review of their treatment and pathway in accordance with their own abilities.What you will get
