Job Description

My client Walsall Council are looking for an experienced NRSWA professional to fill the position of Permit Scheme Inspector on a temporary basis.Salary indicated is on a PAYE basis.Main purpose of the job role:

  • To carry out the inspection and supervision of works on site to ensure that they are being undertaken safely and in accordance with the current specification for materials and workmanship in line with current legislation, namely the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991, the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways 2020.
  • To inspect sites to ensure compliance with permits and any issued conditions taking appropriate action, including the issue of fixed penalty notices as deemed necessary by the post holder where cases of noncompliance exist.
    • Person Spec:
  • The applicant would have a knowledge of the inspection of streetworks and ideally hold a NRSWA streetworks supervisors card.
  • Knowledge of streetworks permit schemes is essential.
  • Experience of using handheld tablets to record inspection would be helpful - we use Yotta’s mayrise system.
  • Qualification to HNC level in Civil Engineering or equivalent would be necessary.
