Job Title: Operations ManagerLocation: WalsallCompany Overview:Murray Myers Recruitment is currently assisting a leading food manufacturer, recognized as one of the countrys largest supplier to national and international supermarkets. With over 25 years of industry expertise and multiple awards, including consecutivewins, our client is undergoing expansion and seeks an Operations Manager to lead and enhance day-to-day operations.Responsibilities:We are seeking an Operations Manager with a proven track record in a similar environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to seamlessly integrate into our operations from day one.Key Responsibilities:1. Supply Chain Management:- Ensure timely ordering and maintain sufficient stock levels of all core and non-core ingredients, packaging, and supplies.2. Supplier Management:- Verify and negotiate supplier pricing, implementing formal procedures for price checks and protocol in case of changes.- Manage end-to-end processes for onboarding new suppliers, including sourcing, sampling, testing, and approvals.3. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP):- Document and establish SOPs for all areas, including product recall procedures.4. Administration and Efficiency:- Ensure efficient and effective administration processes.5. Communication and Collaboration:- Establish regular communication between teams through meetings and ensure actions are implemented.6. Quality Assurance:- Oversee BRC, SALSA, and other food accreditations, working towards achieving targets and supervising the process.7. Customer Relations:- Handle customer and consumer complaints, manage product recalls, and ensure all relevant processes are in place.8. Team Development:- Train and develop staff, actively participate in the hiring and firing process.9. Data Management:- Create and maintain a comprehensive database of suppliers and customers.10. Financial Planning:- Provide monthly/weekly sales figures, monitor damaged goods, product recalls, and wastage, and analyse profit margins per customer.11. Efficiency and Cost Optimization:- Identify better working practices, set and monitor targets for various departments, and contribute to financial planning by recording and monitoring departmental costs.12. Expansion Support:- Support senior management in new business expansion areas, including the purchase of a new factory and entry into the retail sector.13. Contract Management:- Ensure supplier contracts are up to date and negotiate the best rates for services.14. Factory Operations:- Oversee daily and weekly audits on the factory floor, introduce automation where necessary, and ensure timely servicing and repairs of machines.15. Technology Implementation:- Implement relevant software tools/packages for recording and ordering stock from suppliers.16. Health and Safety:- Ensure all health and safety checks, including fire safety, are in place.17. Stakeholder Management:- Manage relationships with key service providers, including accountants, banks, and insurance companies.Qualifications and Experience:- Proven track record and relevant experience in a similar operational environment.- Strong organizational and leadership skills.- Familiarity with food production processes and quality standards.- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Benefits;Pension20 days holiday plus statsSalary - Competitive and NegotiableWorking hours: 8am - 6pm (will need to be available out of hours if ever needed however that’s quite rare when there are any issues)If you feel like you have the relevant experience and skills then apply today
